6.4kW Solar Panel Installation – Part II

I really believed that we’d be lucky to have our solar array up and running by May knowing how our spring weather can be and not knowing how Scott from Viking Electric would be able to squeeze in this job. And as it turned out those issues were small compared to the Covid-19 virus has now really taken a foothold across the country. It has disrupted the world’s economies and here in the states, lock-downs have brought the U.S. economy to a screeching halt. Just today our governor (Governor Walz) has ordered the state of Minnesota to “buckle-up” for a few weeks and only allow essential businesses to stay open.

Even just a few weeks ago this seemed like an impossibility. Both Jo and I feel so incredibly fortunate to live where we are and have such wonderful neighbors that all are looking out for each other during this unprecedented time.

Back to the story at hand… We were extremely LUCKY to have our solar array installed and commissioned before things went south and I cannot give enough thanks to Viking Electric and MiEnergy for getting our new solar array up and running by the end of last week. Now if we can only find the sun. It’s been mostly in the clouds and I’m still looking for a mostly sunny day to get some meaningful data. I will say this however…It has produced more power than I imagined on less than stellar days. I’ll be sure to report back with statistics once I have some to report.
