About DayCreek.com
Daycreek.com was launched in 1997 as a blog about our cordwood building experience and as an informational resource for those interested in cordwood construction (aka stackwall to Canadians). Back then, the term “blog” didn’t exist and we just called it a journal. To keep with the tradition of this website, the journal has been recreated with the original text and photos. This journal focuses on the thought process and actual construction of our cordwood home. Blog is such an ugly word anyway. Journal is a much nicer word and by replacing the last two letters and with “ey”, makes it a journey. Seems appropriate as it really has been a journey.
What’s gone from the old website?
Forum
In it’s hayday, the DayCreek Forum was quite active and contained a lot of good information regarding corwood construction. Unfortunately since hosting platforms have changed, the forum could not be recreated. Even if it were possible, there were too many holes/risks from a security standpoint.
Cordicles
The old site contained pdf’s of cordwood articles from various publications. The intent is to recreate this section, time permitting.
What’s new?
The website is now tailored to work with many different formats found on phone, tablets and desktops. Also expect to see many more blog postings and videos related to living the good life at DayCreek. We hope you enjoy the website and please subscribe to receive emails when new content is added. We will never sell or give out your contact information to anyone.
